I'll tell you what, you guys...if you haven't already, you may want to take a good gander at the rest of Martin's cakes. They are pretty impressive! Thanks Diane! Unfortunately, it wasn't my idea but one I saw posted on this site somewhere. You can learn so much from this site-and each other! Love it.

Very nice job, Martin (not to mention the fact that I LOVE me some Pink Floyd)!  Linda, my dear, that's a great idea for the Rice Krispies (briefly running them through the food processor) as they are quite bumpy and a little sharp when trying to compress them in your hands. You people on CWB are simply brilliant!!  hehehe   :)  (hugs)

Love it, love it!  I am attempting to carve a Gibson Les Paul Custom guitar for my husband's surprise 60th birthday party coming up.  Wish I was this good! :)

I use a little syrup in mine too, makes them gooey and chewy yum.  Sometimes some cocoa too to make chocolate ones.  Hi Kathryn - you're the only other person I've ever come across that spells Kathryn the same way that I do!  I love New Zealand whereabouts do you live?

Aaah thanks for that, we call them rice bubbles here, I might just have to try that

Rice Crispie treats.....Mmmmmmm. Can't make em, cause I can't stop eatting them. But Linda is right, any cereal will work.

I've heard (but not tried) that some people run the Rice Krispie Cereal through a food processor just a little bit to break it down some before adding the marshmallow so that the finished structure will be denser and sturdier. Kathryn, you would not have to use Rice Krispies. Any kind of a puffed type cereal would work. As June said, you mix it with melted marshmallows and a little butter and then push it into a pan to set up. There are recipes on line on how to make it. It's basically used for the structure of some of the cakes, and it keeps the whole cake edible. They are so yummy!

Oops
Rice Crispie cereal & melted marshmallows mixed together.

Kathryn
They are just Rice Crispies & cereal mixed together with some added flavoring of choice, usually vanilla, & formed into squares. Here in Canada you can buy them ready made. Either @ grocery store or a bulk store.
