The head was covered styrofoam. Couldn't make it light enough in cake to hold up. it was wonderful to see the birthday girl kissing her stuffed puppy cake.

Pound Cake body and limbs. Cake is covered in fondant then a star tip was used to make the texture. The tip was inserted into the fondant, twisted then pulled out. This happened 100's of times. I could not find another technique that looked like a fluffy stuffed animal. The bow was made and placed on the cake with royal icing to dry in place. I used tissue paper to support it until it dried. The eyes were painted with super black gel color. The ears were textured on the table then put in place using a gum arabic glue.

The body, arms and legs are cake covered in fondant.  The head is styrofoam covered in fondant.  Are you ready for this?  I used a star tip with a lot of prongs and made 100's of turns and twists.  Okay, probably in the low 1000's!!!  It was crazy but it worked really well.  Helps if you are ambidextrous as your hand will get tired.

The cake is awesome but I love the whole picture and the story behind it!

What did you use for the texture to give it that Terri-cloth look?

This is precious! Makes me even want to give it a big squeeze!
