Stained glass design. I must have been crazy to try this one out. Stickiest mess I have ever worked with. Bottom tier is 12", middle tier is 8". and top tier is 5". All tiers are covered in fondant, then black royal icing was used to do all of the outline work to give it a raised design, then I used piping gel to fill in all of the 'glass' areas. Took me 3 days to finish. Thanks for looking!

Allyson, what I did, was search the Internet for stained glass patterns and images. When I found anthing that I thought might work, I measured around the circumference of the cake to see how long to make the pattern and also added about 1/2 inch or more to allow for the thickness of the fondant. The middle tier was just not spacing out correctly so I had to cut my design at different intervals and add like a spacer of 1/2 inch.

Gorgeous!  My father's hobby was making stained glass lamps so I really appreciate this.  Hope that whomever you made this for absolutely loved it!

Thank you Monica. Actually, it only took 1/2 container of the Wilton brand, and they had it on sale for $2.25 at one of our craft stores, so it really didn't take as much as I thought it would.
