2 tiers, 7" & 9", wasc cake, almond buttercream w/fondant accents. 1st time using the Marvelous Mold chevron onlay. Wasn't too happy w/the results. Maybe next time will be better.

Don't ya just hate that!!! Coulda had all in one....oh well....Go buy it, and you'll have several button sizes to choose from...

I totally agree June. As I said, I think the chevron was supposed to be representative of the rick rack. B/c they are so similar, I think this mold would have been perfect. And, it also had the buttons. I purchased 2 separate molds, one for the buttons & the chevron onlay. I could have had everything I needed in just this one mold :(

Your right Denise....I stand corrected. It is rick rack. But I think it could easily be used as a chevron pattern.

Oh, I"ve seen that one before June. That one is the fabric mold. Gosh I wish I had thought to get that one. That's actually looks like what is called "rick rack" which is what I"m sure the chevron design was supposed to represent since the sock monkey is a knitted/sewn character. Well, at least I'll know next time, if there is one :)

This is the Wilton mould below Denise. Has buttons too. Chevron is small, but does work.

Another absolutely fabulous cake, Denise!!  I LOVE your cakes, always such a treat!  I think your chevrons look fine.  I wouldn't even try them.  The buttons are so cute, too and the stitching on the cake board is too clever..........THEN - your little sock monkey is adorable!  You make the best critters ever!

aha ok, so they have practised it a million times before making the video then!!!  Makes them look good.  Next one of yours will be perfect I'm sure.

Yup, agreed. I have a Wilton mould with a chevron pattern in it. That's easy, push in the fondant, pop in the freezer, place on the cake. Easy.......that's what I like.

Right June. I think it would have been easier if I'd just cut strips of fondant & pieced them together to create a chevron design.
