Scarlet Macaw Cake with most of flowers added...less macaws, of course. Thinking of adding a couple more birds of paradise to the left side and three small orchids on the front right corner. Not yet decided.

Sorry about that!!  When I think ribbon, I think 'pretty in pink', weddings, etc..., lolI

It's a shame you can't airbrush on foil, I like that rough, crinkled, textured, look.

I am not planning to use a pretty ribbon.  I am going to try to find something dirt colored, maybe even decorative Duck Tape.

Talk about correcting spelling....my computer tries to determine what I am trying to say and some of it's choices are totally bizarre!  I have GOT to start proof reading everything I type BEFORE I hut Add Comment!

A 'ribbon' just does not feel right for this situation...? lol  I like how it looks, maybe improve on that idea??? lol

(Correcting my spelling again, I must have awful big fingers to be always hitting 2 keys at once...)

From here, that crumpled look, looks like the edges of a split rock!

You are such a sweetie pie, Bonnie!  The cake board is plywood, but it is covered in foil.  What you can see is a mottled fondant intended to represent the ground.  I have sense added both light and dark brown sugars and fondant "rocks" to give a more natural feel.....just keep adding stuff.  I've still got to cover the edges of the board with ribbon to hide the foil.

Sandra, I was so busy admiring the cake & flowers, that I didn't notice until just now, what a terrific job you did on that cakeboard!!  Plywood, or not, it is GOOD!  And fitting!

Thanks, Luz!  I would be pleased to win something, but I surely will not be broken hearted if I do not.  I wanted to make a big cake and this is it...36" tall including the macaws.  Almost everything on it was a first for me so I learned a lot during the making.

Congratulations Sandra, this cake for sure is a winner.  It has everything, you can see the work you have done in every detail.  You will do great.  Good luck and  please post all the pictures.

You are so sweet, Luz!  Again, thank you for your kind words.  I don't know if you read, but this is my entry in the Tennessee State Fair Decorated Cake competition.  The pair of scarlet macaws (shown in my pictures) will be added to the top.  I plan to make pictures of all the entries and post here for everyone to see.  The date is September 6th.
