Safari smash cake
Smash cake to go with Safari Cake. Iced with buttercream. Monkey, #1 and tree are gumpaste all other decorations are fondant.

A smash cake is a small, one layer (a 4" or 6" layer) for the birthday child to do what they want with, then there is a regular cake for everyone else to eat. This is usually done for the 1st birthday.

This cake is so cute, the little monkey is precious! May I please ask, Lydia, what is a smash cake? I have seen the term before and am baffled.
