First, we made a wooden frame with a pine wood and cut a slot in the back and drilled through each side to hold the back wheel. Then, we attached a small rectangular board under the front and drilled holes on each side for the front wheels. We cut three wooden rounds for wheels, drilled holes in the center and attached them with dowels to the bottom board, two in the front and one on the back. Then, we drilled a hole in the center and on top the board in the front to hold the handle. We drilled a hole through the top handle and inserted a smaller dowel to make the handle bars.
I covered the dowel handle with aluminum foil for the silver look and used foil and blank fondant to cover the dowel for the handle bars. I covered the board for the cupcakes to sit on with freezer paper and trimmed the wheels in white and black construction paper. I arranged the 22 vanilla flavored cupcakes on the bottom board and iced them in blue buttercream icing. I made the front and back fenders and the hub caps with darker blue fondant than the icing I used on the cupcakes for contrast and attached them. As the boy’s name was Ethan and he turned 4 , I piped the E 4 on the front of the scooter. I made a birthday pick on my computer. It has a cat riding a scooter that said “Happy 4th Birthday Ethan, Hope you have a Scootin Good Time!!!”.
