Practice cake using the billowing technique

This is just a little dinky dummy cake that I wanted to try my hand with the billowing technique. I used the smallest foam circles that I could find in the floral section of our craft store. It is covered in fondant, then I cut squares out of the smallest cutter I have for the top cake, and then used the next smallest cutter for the bottom, pinching the ends and pressing them into the fondant. The top tier has edible sugar pearls that I placed between each billow, and the bottom art balls I rolled from fondant. The anemones are made from gum paste. Thanks for looking!

hahahaha!! Gretchen! That just struck me so funny! Doing e-mail, posts, etc, sometimes causes things to get lost in translation, don't they? I'm not offended at all, and thank you so much for posting a link, because I did not have any instructions when I made my little cake and had to 'wing' it from what I could see from other pictures. So, I am very grateful for your input. THANK YOU!

I am so sorry I read the comments wrong and thought you were telling the person who posted the picture you wanted directions on how to do the billowing..... I am so sorry!!!!

I love it... It is so awesom!!! I wish I had time to just practice this stuff.

Linda, here is a link to a tutorial for the billowing.... It came up in a discussion in the forums section and someone posted it. http://thejoyofcake.shutterfly.com/tutorials

Tiffany, my biggest pet peeve is when people will not give directions on how they made their cake! Because this has bothered me so much, I try my hardest to give the directions so that the next person can have somewhat of an idea what to do. Good luck on your next project! I can't wait to see how it turns out! If you think of it, contact me when it's up in pictures! :o)
