Thanks, Lilly.  I use a modified box cake recipe for a dense but moist cake.

This is an awesome cake! What type of cake did you use? Most of the house cakes I have seen are from the Wilton pan. You did a great job!

Hi, Courtney.  Thank you!  There wasn't much carving to do - 3 layers of square cake for the house and then cut the corners of 2 square for 4 even triangles for the roof (repeated smaller scale for the garage).  BC entirely then cover with fondant.  Worst part was getting the walls and roof on evenly! LOL. The fondant detailing really made it come together.  The bc ivy hid my flaws :oP Porch light was a balloon light twisted in wire.
