Stained glass design. I must have been crazy to try this one out. Stickiest mess I have ever worked with. Bottom tier is 12", middle tier is 8". and top tier is 5". All tiers are covered in fondant, then black royal icing was used to do all of the outline work to give it a raised design, then I used piping gel to fill in all of the 'glass' areas. Took me 3 days to finish. Thanks for looking!

Well Darlin

I don't see all the "FLAWS".  You need to do what someone on CWB said to me.  Step back and look at the cake like the customer would.  They would be wowed, like the rest of us.

Thank you Daisy, Ruby and Linda. Now that it has been a few weeks since I made this ( and now that I see all of my flaws as well) I think I need to try again only with the Tiffany Lamp this time and see if I can get a better control on my lines. They look pretty jumpy and jagged in this picture. You know, the hardest part of all was getting the design on the side of the cake. I ended up using graphite tracing paper since I knew it wouldn't be eaten anyway. It left small traces of the graphite on the sides of the cake, but I learned that using a Q-tip dipped in vodka will clean it right up.

Linda this is great work. I don't know if you're crazy but you are certainly very patient!

Firstly, when you complimented me on my "Frilly Cake", that was THE best.  I consider you a real professional. And speaking of professionals, sadly, they won the beach theme contest, #1, #2, #3. I have strong opinions on this.  Feel pros have enough exposure, & there should be catergories for EVERY contest.  I voted for your cake.  I just retired myself, and turned 60...YIKES!!! Waiting for grandchilden I can make cakes for.  Daughter & S-i-Lw  just bought their 1st house 2 days ago. Retired,  I myself now have the actual time to practice.  Maybe I will get the courage to enter a contest??? Who knows.  I have a few cake supply shops, but in Toronto. But at Michael's here in town  has a few cake supplies and I can use my 40% coupon.
