Sorry, I have not been here in a while!
Yes the pumpkin is buttercream. I used a piece of parchment and my offset spatula to create the "grooves" in the pumpkin. I airbrushed the color on. Thank you for the wonderful compliments! I find buttercream easier to work with than fondant. :)

So your pumpkin base is buttercream, not fondant?! It's amazing! I am a true traditionalist and love butter cream.
