Thanks Louise, I have a lot of those presses and never think to use them. I was looking for an idea for this cake that didn't include flowers.
Great use of the pattern presses Betty, great idea! Very creative.
ah gotcha! Thanks Betty, I'll try that next time. I've bought some quite expensive really good wax paper that's nice and non sticky, so I'm saving that for special projects!
I use a small piece of w-paper, lay on cake & use the off set spatula to lightly rub over the paper, pick up paper & move to another spot over the cake & rub.Hope this makes sense.Do the same at cake edge, kinda rolling paper over edge & rub lightly.Your hand doesn't come in contact with cake.
How do you use the wax paper Betty? Do you just smooth over with your hand or do you wrap it round the knife or something? I always find if I use paper, then the heat from my hand melts the butter icing and it just drags!
Thanks ladies, couldn't make up my mind how to decorate the cake so it sat just iced for about 20 min.or more while I looked at it thinking of ideas, by then it had a nice "crust" on it. I smoothed it with a small piece of wax paper and a small knife. Sometimes I don't let the cake set long enough to crust and I can't get it this smooth.
fabulous Betty. Like Sandra says, your buttercream is so smooth
This is not the 'same old thing'! I like it!
love these two colors together and on my monitor I can see that it's purple
Thanks Sandra, your comment made me laugh. I feel like a robot sometimes, doing the same thing over & over.
