Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I won a book at my cake club meeting, painting on cakes a while ago. So I thought I'd give it a try. First thing I realized is, I didn't have the expensive brushes suggested in the book.....sooooo, I used what I had, and adapted. I also decided to have some fun by adding coffee filter paper pansies & a ruffle to the edge of the cake, wanted some whimsy. Bottom is a 8"dummy. Top is a tree trunk cake. Cake is almond orange torted with buttercream laced with triple sec liqueur, covered in triple sec flavoured ganache. And of course, topped with Valentine's heart. Really had fun doing this....
Happy Valentine's Day everyone.... ❤️ ❤️

Looks good June, so cute. Sandra, don't feel guilty I didn't make anything for my family...we just exchanged cards & gave hugs.

So cute!  I like the sassy angle at which the heart sets on the tree stump.  You did a great job on your tree.....like the initials carved in the trunk, as well.  I think the 3 dimension of the coffee filter pansies added a lot to the design.  I'm like Katy, feeling a little guilty for not making a cake.  I only made ugly (undecorated, but delicious) cookies for Mike :o(
