My first wedding cake - for son's wedding. Fondant with satin ribbon and fondant/gumpaste teardrops. Not really traditional, but this is the cake (color and all) the bride chose for me to make. I thought it looked much better with just the ribbon on it. Simple but elegant. And it really is NOT lopsided - I was a wreck by the time it was set up so my hands were probably shaking so badly I couldn't take a picture! LOL It's not perfect, and I wasn't entirely happy with it (corners not perfectly square for one thing) but for my first time out, I guess it's okay. The bride loved it and that's all that matters..

Jolly good job Dee, think it looks lovely.  Very brave to do your first wedding cake for your son and I can only imagine the traumas you have suffered!  Good luck with the next one.  Yes, square cakes are hard.

Thank you so much.  It was very nerve racking!  Working now on three tier round buttercream wedding cake for this weekend.  Not quite as nervous about this one.  Square cakes are HARD!!!!

You did a wonderful job.  I don't think I have the courage to do anyone's wedding cake so good for you.
