Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

This is a "test cake" for my son's upcoming wedding. My future daughter-in-lw wants a naked cake. I iced the cake 2 days ago, as I thought this will let me know how truly moist the cake will stay. I did give the cake a good brushing with sugar syrup. It's also my son-in-laws birthday today, and my daughters in a few weeks, but we'll be away so celebrating both today. And my son is celebrating getting a amazing new job. There are Dianthus, Berries, Chrysanthemums and Coffee filter flowers as fillers in this bouquet sitting in a raffia filled little gumpaste basket.

Thanks Goreti and Sandra. Good thing this was a test cake. I used straw dowels, but this was a dense cake, and I should have used more heavy duty plastic straws I have. You can't tell in the picture, but it started to lean ever so slightly at the back because cake was heavily and not anchored properly. But lesson learned.

June, you have gotten so good with the coffee filter flowers that I thought they were all gum paste!  This cake is simply beautiful.  If I could bake layers that even and neat, don't think I would ever cover them with frosting.
