Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I used 3 different recipes here, and only the one on the right turned out as it should, so I put it on the cake for the picture, then removed it.

Ok. I bought 2 lace recipes..will private message whose. one, all the $$$ went to charity, so didn't mind that.  Wasn't keen on either of them, and I followed the directions to the letter. I still have some I made from the original recipe both Goreti & Gail posted on here. There not moldy OR in the freezer. In a zip loc bag in my basement caking corner.

I had time, so went for it!  The one on the left, just stretched & broke mostly, did not want to come out!  I treated all 3 molds the same, with just a little oil on the fingers, & wiped inside the mold as needed. then quickly brushed over with a paper towel to get rid of the excess.  The second one was just a gel & water basically, she said for gel flowers using molds, should have worked here too, but did not.  It did worse than the other one.  I'm changing the subject now...I recently bought a mold recipe from a well known cake site on the net, just to see how it compared to mine.  I pd. $5 for it.  It looked nice, had blue dye in it, and felt about the same.  So far so good, I just never got around to dying mine.  When I read the reviews, they all basically were upset with how quickly the molds deteriorated, moldy & such.  That if they had to make them over & over, it would be cheaper to just buy them.  That is where mine is better.  I still have several of my very first molds, and they ALL are still functional!  She also told them they must bag them & freeze them.  I found that mine loose some of the flexibility when not bagged, due to drying out a wee little bit, but I never put one in the freezer!  The fridge, yes, but only to see what it would do.  I have NEVER had a deterioration problem with any of my molds, so I think my recipe is far better than hers.  A waste of $5.

June, I would LOVE to try your lace recipe, please?  I will get back with you about these as soon as possible.

As I posted in your other photo, be interested in which 3 you tried Bonnie. Don't expect you to write it here. Message me, as I'm interested which one was the "winner". I've got a recipe from a Italian cake friend on FB, that she and her pro friends swear by. Just haven't had time to try it out....

Very clever of you to try the different recipes at once so you could compare.
