I made a 7" cake so that I had enough flowers. Ice the cake. The basket weave is hand rolled. I put a "rope" around the top edge of the cake. Then I put "ropes" over the top rope & down the side. I put it on one side, then the opposite side & then add more to make it even. The ropes going down should be about an inch apart. Then I roll long ropes, then cut pieces and start making the basket. I do add a little water with a brush to glue them to the ropes going down. For the handle, I put in 2 thicker skewers. I put a drinking straw over the skewer making sure that the straw is touching the skewer. I take a flower wire & bend it. I roll out a loooong rope & wrap that around the wire adding a little water to keep it sticking. You have to leave enough of the wire bare so you can stick each end into the straws with the skewers. I use coffee stirrers when putting wired flowers in cakes.
