I tried the same style two weeks ago, but my flowers were flat.  I chalked it up to my frosting being too warm. The kitchen was warm and I assume that is what kept it from being stiff enough. It was Michael's buttercream frosting so its not like I didn't add enough sugar to homemade frosting. I'll have to try it again. I love the two tone look. That is exactly what I did, but mine turned out to be cabbage roses. LOL.
