Just trial and error. It took about 2 days with painting for them to dry completely. I also used toothpicks in the bottoms (stuck in along side the wire) and balls of gumpaste (for added support) on the toothpicks to insert into the cake. Hope this helps.

Thank you Jacqueline. Just curious, did you brainstorm & figure this out yourself, or search the web for a tutorial??
How long did it take for the numbers to get hard enough to put on the cake???

I used florist wire and rolled a log of fondant around it until it was the thickness I wanted. Then I bent it to the shape I wanted.

I am so intrigued by those big letters. There so well done, & I see them everywhere. How did you do yours?
