each folded pleat was made individually and placed on in alternating shades of dark chocolate. The flowers are real done by the flower shop. This is not a quick method at all about 2 hours for each of the large tiers.

The pleats were so time consuming... put the fondant through the kitchen aide pasta machine... twice...on 0 then on 3. Used my quilting ruler to cut the strips 4" wide and what ever length I needed them for each tier. Used the edge of the ruler to make sure the strips were straight then laid them on using just a light brush of water on the previous strip to adhere each one. Took me 8 hours to get all the strips on this cake. Got quicker as the tiers got smaller but it was a time consuming job.

I just love this cake!!!! Clue me in on the pleats, are they just overlapping strips?
