Danielle, this was a cake I did for a competition. I'm sorry, I should have mentioned that!! I already posted the cake (it's in my photos) and mentioned that it was for the Ocala I.C.E.D. show and competition but this post is because it got on the cover (and inside) of ACD Magazine. And, to answer your question, (which was a good one and no, I absolutely don't think it was a rude question at all) this took a couple of months (on and off) to make, so I really doubt any of my clients would want to pay what I'd need to charge to cover my time, materials etc.

Can I ask the question (that every cake decorator dreads from their husband) how many hours it took to make this cake?  The cake is incredible but I always wonder are there clients out there who will pay enough to cover such painstaking work?  Please don't think I am rude asking - we are about to sign a lease for our first shop (in Melbourne, Australia) and we constantly debate whether there is a market for the really time consuming cakes.  We are nowhere near your level of detail yet but still find ourselves spending long nights over a cake
