Your the 2nd person I know who bought a shoe, tore it apart & used as a template. I actually printed out instructions from a member on Cake Central. I made, or should say, tried to make a shoe couple of years ago. It broke in 2 when I tried to pick it up. Pretty sure it was because I made my sole too thin. I too have arthritis in my hands. Osteo tho, not rheumatoid. Mostly joint pain. My hands have knots & swollen knuckles... not a pretty site. Looks ugly, but function Ok.
I am on FB, under my name & have a page "Clarky's Cakes". Not in business per say. Mostly friends & family. :o)

I think June that its more time consuming and fiddley than difficult. The only difficulty for me personally was making the heel, but that's because I have arthritis and my hands are mis shaped so trying to get the heel to go straight was a nightmare lol
I did use a template at first, I bought a size 5 shoe in the sale, cut it up and used the pieces as a template but when the sole part of the shoe was drying it shrank so I ended up cutting the upper part free hand. Turned out to be not as bad as I thought.
Hope that's of some help. Good luck with yours June!
I don't always come to this site, but am always on Facebook if I can help out with anything ( no expert btw!!)

Was the shoe hard 2 do Sue??  I ask because I will be making one in a week or so for my son's girlfriends b-day cake. Was it all done free hand, or did you use a template?
