Makeup and GHD Hair Straightener 13th Birthday Cake
Madeira cake with strawberry conserve and vanilla buttercream.
On the front of the cake stands the age 13 covered with glitter and glittered flowers and twirled wire sit behind the age. The recipients initials...GEM sit in front of the age. Flowers and shopping bags from the young ladies favourite boutiques adorn the cake edges.
GHD hair straighteners, makeup brush, mascara, spilled nail polish and compact sit atop the cake. All except the nail polish and the brands that the birthday girl own.

Sugarpaste is fondant by the way, just incase you are not from UK and know it as a different name. I suppose it would probably work as well if mixed with gum paste, haven't actually used gum paste though but have read about it.

Hi, thanks. I mixed sugarpaste with flower paste, about 2/3 sp to 1/3 f/p. I cut the 13 out freehand and threaded wires through the numbers, a couple of hours later they were dry enough to stand up. A little sugar glue and glitter finished the numbers.

This cake looks great. Is the 13 made out of gumpaste or fondant?
