Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I made this cake of the Mach 5 from Speed Racer for a friend for his birthday! I'm so happy with how it turned out. It's alternating layers of yellow and butter pecan cake with cream cheese icing that has chopped walnuts in it and then all covered in marshmallow fondant and hand painted. The tires are rice cereal treats covered in the fondant.

And sorry for the late reply! I was in Austin last weekend for That Takes The Cake 2011. I entered the Showcake category and placed 8th! So happy that I even made it into the top 10 :)

Hi Yasmin,

I would love to be able to make a cake for your son but I'm not in business just yet! Since it's still illegal to sell food made in a residential kitchen to the public in Texas, I'm just making cakes for friends, family and cake competitions until I have the money to get my LLC, liability insurance and the money to rent a commercial kitchen so I can make cakes for pay. Unless the Cottage Food Law passes (http://www.texascottagefoodlaw.com/), then I wouldn't have to rent the kitchen!

I flattered that you would want to hire me though! :)

Tammi,

I live in Richardson, TX and my soon to be 4 year old son wants a Mach 5 cake for his upcoming birthday in May.  How can I get in touch with you?
