You put a lot of imagination, which means a lot of yourself, into this, and it shows!  You are never too old to enjoy these guys.  I watch all the kiddie movies, with them, all the time.  Now they are watching the ones they found in the basement that were their daddy's when he was a kid, and loving every moment of it, poor quality, with static, and all!
