Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

This was one of my most ambitious cake designs !!
He stood just over 2ft tall .I made a base of 2 wooden dowels upto his waist and then guessed the shape he would be and cut a piece of mdf then glued the dowels and cut piece in place . Using melted marshmallows and rice crispies covered his legs up to the board , then a thin covering of fondant . I then put a third dowel in the top of this upto just above his neck line , a 10inch sponge was used for his body , put over the top dowel in layers with buttercream and jam fillings , then covered in fondant .The head was a ball of more rice crispy treat then i sculpted the face , put on ears in fleash coloured fondant and the chest and belly , coloured more fondant black and put on his arms and costume , a bit of hair some black makeup and a few hundred dots later Robbie lives on !!!

Now that is SO TRUE !! Our gifts come in many guises , the lucky ones are the ones to spot them !!

haha! Well put! But, those who can't and those without a clue, most likely have 'gifts' that are equally desired, by those who can, because those who can, can't and don't have a clue how those 'gifts' are not available to them as well! How is that for you! Is that a mind twister or what?! In other words...each and every person on the face of the earth has a 'gift' that is very special to them, and the world couldn't function without them all.

Too true ! There's those that can , those that can't , and those without a clue !!

Absolutely! Because there is a ton of talent on this site, and it had to come from somewhere! My best answer? It's a 'gift' given at birth.

Thank you Linda that's a very good way to look at it ! So running with the God given talent idear , there is a huge number of professionals on this site alone who don't feel they are , don't you think ?

I have heard others say that once you start receiving a monetary amount for your creations, you are a pro. Think about it, Martin...Someone somewhere in time had to be the first to accomplish a technique or skill before they were considered a pro, which in turn, they may have turned around and 'taught' what they have learned through trial and error to someone else, and then, because of their hard earned skills, they have been labeled a pro. Martin, I don't get too caught up with pro vs. non-pro, because as far as I'm concerned...it's all a God-given talent in the first place. But, for sake of argument, if you are receiving moneys, then I guess you can consider yourself a pro. =O)
