Never had those, Goreti, but they sound yummy, too.
I love the chocolate orange combination and use it often. Reminds me of the Peppridge Farm Orange Milano cookies. Used to love those when I was younger.
Great advise, Katy. I will proceed with caution. Thanks for the idea, Betty! I would have never thought of using it with chocolate, but it sounds wonderful.
Watch out for putting too much marmalade in the cake batter. In can cause your cake to sink in the middle, according to the high priestess Mary Berry! I make ;a marmalade traybake and I think it's a fine line between getting enough to be able to taste it and too much to mess up your cake.
Sandra....That orange marmalade makes a tasty filling for a chocolate cake too.:)))
Bonnie, Pat sends us lemons from her tree almost every fall. They are very thin skinned, super sized and extremely juicy. I use as many as I can fresh, the others I zest and squeeze and put the zest and juice in the freezer. Keeps very well.
Goreti, I will try adding it to the batter next time and, maybe, baking it in a bundt pan with just a lemon glaze poured over it. The buttercream is a bit much for my taste.
My namesake is in California, and the lemon tree she had when we were there had lemons the size of a small football! Never saw anything like it. One would make an entire pitcher of lemonade!
I used to have a recipe (no idea where I have it) that you actually used orange marmalade in the cake batter. It was delicious. Might have to look for that recipe.
Bonnie, Mike's Aunt Pat lives in California and has a lemon tree in her yard. Friends and neighbors have orange and lime trees. They share!! Isn't that wonderful!? She made the marmalade and sent us 7 jars. We rarely eat anything like that so didn't know what on earth I would do with so much marmalade.....wa la....cake filling. It is tart and sweet and very good :o)
