You are very generous, Joseflin. Personally, I think is would discourage a lot of people from even trying if there were no categories. One thing for sure, placing in the finals when competing against professionals makes it that much more of an honor.
So is this cake from then, or is it from this year? And if so, did they finally get smart & add categories??? I would def need a category... lol
Last year, Wilton held their first cake decorating competition in Hong Kong. The judges were Colette Peters, David MacFrae, Mercedes Sw--(can't remember her last name!) and the president of Wilton International. It was a bit discouraging for some of us though because there were no categories and we amateurs competed with professionals or those in business already. I suppose that's how it should be ? Anyway, the winners had awesome, fab cakes....my cake was nothing compared to theirs! But it was a wonderful experience! Had fun!
Congratulations on being a finalist, Joseflin! There must have been awesome competition. This is a great cake. I love the shape which really sets off the flowers.
LOL Bonnie :D
I guess I'll go to check Joseflin's photos too ;)
Didn't know they even had a Wilton Cake Competition! Is it a yearly thing? Think we have that over here also? Hmmmm I think I will contact my Wilton instructor to find out.
I may even try a smaller version of your cake, but without the hard to do flowers. And the Bamboo might have to go. Then there is the string work-wow. I am pretty sure I won't tackle that any time soon. What does that leave?? I can do a 3 layer cake, and I can make leaves. And I can do butterflies. And I can make calla lilies. I might even manage the stones! lol Doesn't look like you are going to have to worry about me stealing your design! lol
It is a really lovely Cake. I have been having a really good time viewing your other cakes, cookies, cupcakes, etc.....
This cake is gorgeous! Did you win? You should have.
Keep smiling! Your cake is gorgeous!
Gorgeous! Good luck!
