Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

High on relief today, after the disastrous start to this special order. Things finally came together and I am happy with the result. Yes, there are imperfections, but overall, happy. Shoe box is Devils Food Cake, 4 layer, torted with white chocolate butter icing, then milk chocolate butter icing and finally dark chocolate ganache. Covered in Teddy Bear brown fondant, to get as close as possible to the colour of a Louboutin shoe box. Hand piped logo in royal icing. Tissue paper 50/50 fondant gumpaste, rolled with textured rolling pin and folded as I attached it to give it movement. Shoe is gumpaste, taken from and combination of designs by Louboutin. Stiletto was a bit wonky so I made a spray of red roses to disguise it a little. Shoe is standing on red fondant to represent the red dust bag. Board is covered in white fondant and textured with a tile embosser.

Well thanks again Mr. Chlupsa! xx  This was the second attempt - first one broke right across the middle (yep, lack of patience.......)

Thank you again Becky!  Don't be afraid to have a go.  Practice makes it easier everytime.  The important thing is to be patient and let it dry properly at various stages so it doesn't break on you.

Mandy ordered one from USA. Very $$$. It's about $50 & with shipping, would end up $70+ for me. Unless I was getting big $$... too dear. Gail ordered the kit, hated it!! Said it was a waste of $$. I would order just strictly the heel mold. That would be worth it as that is the most challenging & tricky part.

You do have a point there June, I grant you, she does use a mould.  I don't seem to be able to get that darn thing over here, but if I get any more requests, I may well get one imported from the US.  I hate that I can't get that heel tidy.  But I most certainly will be able to do it quicker next time, learnt so much from this one - no small thanks to you I may add, for that vid!

Hey Miss K
If you cranked out 2-3 shoes a week.... your shoes would be just as good as Iris. If this is any indication with this just this shoe. The more you do.... you can finish the sentence. Yours is done all freehand. She uses a mold to make hers. :o)
