Our oldest son generously offered to give one of his kidneys to his cousin who had suffered from kidney disease most of his life. Without a kidney transplant, he would not survive. I made this cake for a fundraiser to raise funds for the transplant. We auctioned it off & the winning/closing bid was $100. This was also my 1st attempt at both fondant & gum paste. The surgical instruments are gum paste.

Thank you Denise for your kind words. Congratulations to you too for the blessing God gave you of being a breast cancer survivor. Life gets tough sometimes but when you look back and realized all the good it brought it just doesn´t look like a nightmare anymore. Congratulations again for those 6 grandchildren! Lots of blessings to you too!
Luz, Thank you for all your comments/compliments on my cakes. Congratulations on your 12 years out from your kidney transplant and being able to celebrate your grandson's 2nd birthday. I am a breast cancer survivor, a year out. I was diagnosed last March. I, too, feel I've been given a new life & am very grateful to still be here to enjoy & continue to watch my 6 grandchildren grow up. Prayers for you & many blessings to you for years to come.
Beautifull job and for a great cause. I am a kidney transplant patient too, 12 years now! I´ve been blessed with a new life, your son is an angel sent from heaven. I didn´t have any realtive who would give me his/her kidney. Mine was from a 16 year old boy who suffered and accident and was kept alive with life support. I´m grateful that God let me live to see my beautiful grandson who just turned 2.
