Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

This was my daughter's wedding cake. Her wedding was a vintage theme and she decided on her design about a week before the wedding! I had to scramble to get it right but she was thrilled with it. I tinted Satin Ice fondant to a very soft pink. For the piping I just did string work. The beads were each piped using graduating sizes of tips. I had to travel almost 4 hours to do this cake and I was working in her mother in laws beautiful kitchen. She wanted real flowers on the cake so we used the same flowers that she had in her boquet and in the girls boquets. Hope you all enjoy it!

Well Jeri
Reading another post of yours, you have obviously built up a clientele over 36 yrs. I came into decorating very late. Made my 1st "real"wedding cake for my niece, 7 yrs ago. Between traveling with my sons rep sports & my crazy work hours... split shifts, evenings + working every other wknd, there was never enough time for caking. That is why I was stunned when I realized not only were you crazy busy BUT you worked full time as well.... Just amazing. Hats off to you. :o)

Thank You June!  I have already booked 4 cakes for next summer.  But am going to limit how many I book.  I am usually booked a year in advance because I do not overbook myself.

Absolutely gorgeous.Has a sort of Victorian/Edwardian feel to it.

Thanks... she changed her mind about a million times. She wanted something with the old fashion flair... I was stressing so much and just could not get the right thing.. then I covered a dummy in pink fondant and piped the string work and the details and took a picture and sent it to her... she was thrilled and knew it was the one... kind of like the day we found her dress. And I had to make it in her inlaws kitchen because the wedding was 3 hours from here! Oh the memories!

Wow, if this doesn't scream 'vintage' I don't know what does :) Beautiful, simply wonderful work.

This was my first attempt in string work in about 25 years. I really enjoyed it. I can say this is truly a labor of love! One layer of the cake was Pink Champagne too! Her wedding had a lot of pink!
