Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Well, I have to say this it's been a very long time that I was up to the wee hours finishing a cake. Daughter called me Thursday asking if I could make her father-in-laws 65th birthday cake for this Saturday.....today. Of course, I can never just do a simple plain ole cake!!! Jim has a motorcycle, which he's passionate about, and he LOVES to gamble & play cards....so I incorporated Jim holding cards, and added dice and a 2D motorcycle. Had no time to make a full scale motorbike. Jim is a little on the "portly" side and bald....so I hope he won't mind that I made him a little rotund.....hee hee. When I finished my figure & motorbike....I put in my oven all night with the light on to dry....worked great!! ❤️

You know what they say Katy.....necessity is the mother of invention!!! Don't own a edible printer...nor will I. I find using computer paper works in certain circumstances....piping gel or white glue creates like a lacquer on the paper, then you can apply to your cake. As long as you remove the paper before you serve...

Thanks so much lovey ladies. I was up veeeery late Thursday night making "Jim".... As I said most of the pieces dried in the oven overnight.
Katy...yes card IS a real one....I'm not that good!! The smaller cards are just computer paper applied to gumpaste with piping gel...and piping gel applied over top. I realized as I was boxing the cake....oh my gosh, Jim where's glasses!! Oh well, no time left to do anything about it..... ❤️

June - this is awesome!  Like Goreti said, so much detail in such a short space of time, amazing.  Please tell me that 5 of clubs is a real card?  And how did you do the mini cards?  You really did pull this one off kiddo

Fabulous cake, June!  I love your little Jim and the motor cycle is perfect.  Love everything about it.
