12" and 6" yellow cake with strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream icing. Yellow brick road made of yellow/gold fondant, imprinted with Duff's texture tile and brushed with brown color dust for depth. Figurines (including witches feet!) made of colored 50/50, fondant/gumpaste mix. Facial details hand painted with gel color mixed with clear vanilla extract and character dusted with color powder to add additional depth. Scarecrows straw, Dorothy's hair and Lion's Mane made of thinnly rolled fondant/gumpaste. Tinman dusted with silver lusterdust to look like metal. Dorothy's White checkers on her dress were hand painted on using white icing color and her shoes are topped with red sugar glitter. Fondant poppies with small edible black pearls. Emerald City made of pulled Isomalt colored green and molded green isomalt gem stones with surrounding green buttercream bushes. This was actually the first time I had attempted "people"! Each character took days sculpt and dry.... Thought I had bitten off more than I could chew but, it somehow all came together in the end! What a relief!

Thank you June! I definetely have under 2 years experience.  Took a wilton cake class about a year ago and off I went! lol  Mostly learning by trial and error and You tube!  I am trying to enter it in the contest but, not sure if I am tagging it correctly.  Still trying to navigate my way around the site.  I am already learning so much here :-)

Wondeful cake... your figures are exceptional. So much attention to detail.  If you have under 2 yrs of experience, you should think about entering this cake in our current contest.  :o)
