Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi, this is a hat cake I made for a friend's son - it was to replicate his favourte hat.
I baked the cake in an oven proof dish shaped like a sports cap. (I usually use it as a mixing bowl)
I then froze it over night and covered it with a layer of home made ganache.
After letting that set overnight in the fridge I then covered it in Black SatinIce RTR fondant. The 'stitching' detail I did with a toothpick, and the 'air vents and top' were just rolled up pieces of fondant shaped to match.
The brim was a thicker piece of RTR fondant which I placed against the cake and cut to shape.
The green DC Shoe Co label was white fondant which I coloured with gel paste the night before, to match his own hat.
I love this cake because the proud 13 year old boy told everybody about it and kept thanking me for it. He was so happy!
