Well this was a super quick cake. Got called at 5 pm last night to make a birthday cake for my future daughter-in-law Megan’s sister Rachael. So baked, torted and crumb coated last night. I had free reign, as much as you can have in 24 hr period. All Megan wanted was a pickle on top of the cake. Huh?? A pickle?? I knew Rachael’s dogs name was Pickles, and apparently there’s a private joke with the this pickle thing….I didn’t ask. Just had to figure out a fun way to incorporate the pickle. I had a leftover paper clay fantasy flower, so thought it would be fun to pop the pickle on top of the flower…make it girly and silly. Megan loved it. Added small jalepenios in front of the “pickle flower” cause they just seemed to go together. Cake is a vanilla raspberry lemon, torted with raspberry jam and homemade lemon curd. Covered in white chocolate caramel flavoured buttercream and lots of fondant daisies.

Hey it let me change the title - will it do or do you want it called something else? I can change it.
Well now, I was going to say, give this a title, girl! Now I know why you didn't. Let me try.
Thanks Katy. It was fun. I saw a tutorial on YouTube on making a pickle...thought it was lame. Said, I can do better than that. Actually, we call them gherkins here too. I wanted to make a huge dill pickle, but it wouldn't have fit on the flower. If I had had time, I would have attempted a sculpted pickle cake.
Note: I've been trying for a day to edit my photo...pic loaded but not info. CWB site won't let me. After many tries...I gave up.
beautiful cake June - love the colour combination and the flower too. Gherkin (as we would call the pickle) is too funny. At first I thought it was a caterpillar eating the flower and thought ' what the heck is the story behind this one' lol!
Beautiful cake, June! Love the gorgeous purple. The pickle is cute :o)
It's very pretty but like Betty, I'm curious about the pickle.
Very pretty June...explain pickle, please??? Love the color & your design.
