Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

This cute lil guy is a character off the kids program "in the night garden" he is my second ever Gumpaste figure and is going on top of my sons first birthday cake next week... I'm happy with him, I was determined to get that weird head shape right, nailed it! Only complaint is that he is WAY to blue. The character is a light blue. Also, I'm still trying to figure out how to remove lines and creases, for now I do my best to disguise them haha. (The line in the middle of his body is on purpose tho haha)

Very cute... good job. If you rub a very small amount of shortening, I mean a miniscule amt, on the crack as it appears, it should disappear. Add too much, & your figure could fall apart. :o)

The reason his hand is near his face BTW is because I'm going to put a mini-cupcake between his legs aNd some frosting on his hand to look like he is eating it :-)

Hi Katy :-) I work the Gumpaste till Its warm and easily stretchy. I usually add my colour right before i use it, so that makes sure im having to knead it alot. I was told if I over do it, It could cause it to crack later? Probably wrong information. I put a bit of shortening on my hands occasionally, but I've never rubbed any in, I must try that thankyou!

Cute little fella Penny, love him.

Re lines and creases - are you sure you are kneading your gumpaste enough before shaping it?  It needs to be really pliable before you start.  Are you adding a little bit of Trex or something to it and kneading that in?  It will give it more elasticity.
