The base and sides of the first two tiers. I used shelf liner to impress the tiny squares on the 2nd tier. I happened across the idea at 3am trying to complete the cake when I accidentally rolled a piece over it. The design of this cake was not fully known until I completed it. It changed as I worked. I then piped royal down 1/3rd of the cake. I originally wanted to pipe all the way around but quickly realized I did not have time to do it all. The 2nd tier is just dropped loops. I then added dots at the intersections and painted each in the center silver and the ones on the edge maroon. The base tier is my favorite. I found paisley stickers at the store and decided to design my cake around them. I made molds using the Make Your Own Molds products of each sticker. It took a little longer than usual because I had to build each sticker up before molding. I made a mold for the leaves from a 3D sticker then made them all out of a fondant/CMC mix. They were ivory then I dusted and painted each one. The henna patterns were easily found on the internet. I started out trying to trace the designs but after just a few inches of that realized I would be better free-handing it all. After a few minutes you just get in your zone and like doodling just do what feels right. I used a very dry damp brush to flatten the rounded piping flat.
