Can anyone please advise what you use to paint faces on fondant/gum paste mix models? As you can see, my gel color mixed with alcohol is just a mess. Also, what is the best medium for modeling? I am using an approximate 50/50 mixture of homemade MMF and Nicholas Lodge's gum paste. It is working pretty well, but I cannot get it nice and smooth like everyone else seems to be able to do. Thanks for any advise :o)

Bonnie, girl, you just don't know what you are missing - LOL!
BUT, I never did like to kiss a beard, or mustache!
Looks a little like Mike! And those lips are so kissable! ha ha
Thank you, sweet Denise! If you've looked at my pictures, you've seen every single thing I've ever sculpted. Fantasy dragons and bird feathers are a lot easier than trying to do a human face (only slightly larger than a quarter) that looks like the individual. Seems to me if I can paint it, I should be able to sculpt it :o) I will keep trying!!!
Inoka, I think I am going to have to stick to power, too, but I've seen tutorials where they are painted and it looks perfect...??? Thanks for your sweet comments :o)
Wow Sandra!! Even w/ the things u pointed out he still looks great. I thought u had already mastered sculpting. Your dragon, those gorgeous macaws...
Wow This is great Sandra , I am always stuck with the face. For painting I use dusting powder and wet paint is not good.
Thanks, Goreti! Hope I can do it again without the messy painting. If I ever figure it out, I will let you know what works for me because I am determined to master sculpting. I like it so much.
I have trouble with this myself which is another reason I don't like to do them. You did a great job. It looks just like Ringo.
June, the paste I used for the face was pretty good, but the hair was definitely under-kneaded. Didn't realize it until I started to add the marks and it started to crack. I will check out Alan Tetreault's Mexican paste. I have been curious as to the difference in Mexican paste and other gum pastes, anyway. Thank you for your sweet words and your help!
