I did this one for my mom's Quilt Guild holiday party. The fabric was all created from rolled fondant which I hand painted and textured to look like different fabrics. The fondant fabric was then draped and folded over the buttercream covered cake to resemble a "fat quarter" stack tied with a gold ribbon. I then designed a quilt "square" from the fondant fabrics and draped it over the side of the cake.

This is doen beautifully. And what a novel idea??
wow, i really didn't expect so much great feedback! thanks to you all.
gloria- it's four 9" layers torted with whipped chocolate ganache and iced with buttercream. I put the "in between" pieces of fondant on between layers, but they were cut out in the center so the next cake sat mostly on the ganache.
this cake is creative and i try to figure if it is one cake or four different layers each covered in a different color fabric i give up whatever you did it is fantastic
Very pretty. You need to look for details to realize that is a cake. Awesome job.
Oh my gosh! this is beautiful, the fabric looks so real
