Heart shape is made from an 8" square and an 8" round cake layer. I cut the round layer in half and placed each semi-circle on adjacent sides of the square cake layer.

The whole thing is covered in chocolate Satin Ice, with chocolate rolled fondant beads as a bottom border and small heart crimps around the top edge.

The center is a raised heart using this technique: http://www.mycakeschool.com/blog/raised-heart-cake/. I also added some chocolate fondant ribbon roses, and the bow is made from textured pink gum paste. The whole thing is dusted with Super Pearl. Because everything looks better with Super Pearl.

Thank you Betty! I used this texture mat for the ribbon: http://amzn.to/1k6sph1. It's one of my favorites. :)

Taking a second look... Love the texture on your ribbon, very pretty. All of it neatly done.

If anyone is curious to see how I made it, I posted a couple of videos on YouTube: Heart Shaped Cake playlist.
