My niece's birthday is on valentines day so I made this one for her years and years ago.

I think it's already started... We just need to ad a little more fuel to the fire... other then flowers, and okay, lace and drape work... fondant could go away and I would never miss the stuff... GREAT...! Now my "not good" side comes out... I think I need to work on my fondant reconciliation..... I was just thinking before I saw your response... I would knock over old ladies and butt in front of little kids to get to an end piece of ANY of your vintage cakes... but any of those fondant cakes... save me a middle piece if there's any left over... and there always is...
Tim, we need to start a movement of bringing back vintage. We need to make it the 'in' thing to do. lol
Maybe we can start an uprising!!
Make more foo foo cakes Linda...!!!
yeah, I wish they would have had those smoothing boards back then. It sure would have saved a lot o grief.
And really, if you know the old tricks, like paper napkin and those smoothing boards... it looks great and tastes even better...
I know! It looks beautiful on a cake, but yuck! The taste is awful! To me, what a waste of all that powdered sugar! I used to look at the cakes in my books and want so bad to be able to make a cake that looked that pretty and that smooth...so then when I did make one, and tasted it, it was like, ugh! Why bother?
Try making them "taste" the fondant first (personally, I think the stuff taste like #^%$*...!)
I really miss making all the foo foo cakes. Whenever a bride comes by to look at cakes, they all go for that fondant icing and simple design.
But really Linda, in many ways, she never left... She's still alive with us!!!
I do too. Please come back old school! We miss you!
