Everything on this cake had special meaning to the girl who got this. The butterfly was made from gum paste and hand painted, the scroll was also made from gum paste and then chalked to look worn, and the flowers were made from gum paste, as were the letters. I chose to go with cut out lettering as there were so many words and I was afraid that I woiuld run out of room free handing it.

Thank you Iris. I'd like to be able to do beautiful flowers as yours are, though. Flowers are to me, the hardest thing to do.

Thank you Tracy. What did not show up on this cake, is the air brushing I did in the middle of the cake! It was supposed to look like rays of sunlight in the center (which was another element that the girls mom requested) and as I was airbrushing, it just got muddy looking. Tried to use too many colors and I should have just stayed with yellow.

Well Linda, what can I say. I was pretty pleased with my butterflies......until I saw this. What a stunning creation. I just love your butterfly. Note to self - must try harder! Lovely, Tracy x

Oh, I'm sorry, Cup of Cake...I guess I should say I used petal dust. Actually, you can buy non toxic chalks over in the scrap booking section of a craft store, which I also use. You just have to make sure you check to make sure they are non toxic. They are both chalk, so I am used to saying 'chalked'.

You sculpt, Tami, I paint. Thank you. I would like to have the sculpting talent as well, but I don't.

This is beautiful and I love that everything meant something to the recipient. That butterfly blows me away!
