normally i find it comes out quite easy if you roll the sugar paste thin enough, but thanks for the tip I will remember it :)

Yes, I can well imagine. Hats off to you for your patience...  Do you pop the letters in the freezer for easy removal.  Works for me.    :o)

with a calligraphy cutter but it is very fiddly and time consuming

How DID you do those letters???   Must have been tricky indeed. My niece use to do calligraphy.... lovely, but very time consuming.
