Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

This is the 2nd of two birthday cakes I made for myself. My sis-in-lw kindly invited hubby and I over to make me a birthday dinner a few days after my actual birthday. Had a few free hours while new baby and family were visiting the in laws. So quickly put the cake together.
Cake is banana lime filled and covered with cheesecake flavoured bc. Used dehydrated blueberries to place the cameo on, and added a bc ruffles. Repurposed the cake board, removed old colour and added new. Repurposed a previously made coffee filter flower, rinsed off old colour, added a few larger bottom petals and sprayed with Wilton pink colour mist. Used a previously made cameo.

Thanks Bonnie...I wish I could repurpose...upgrade parts on me!! The cameo mold plus a broach mold was kindly made and given to me by Mel of Sugar and Spice cakes, Aukland, N. Z. a few years ago. Big surprise, it just arrived in the mail. Mel used to be very active on FB & CD, where I met her. Her hubby and her own a factory that produces gourmet Indian products...sauces, fillings etc. They opened a state of art factory 1-1 1/2 yrs ago...so she's so busy with that and her cake business, hardly see her post anymore. Although she was the 1st one to post a birthday wish to me, being N.Z. is 24 hrs ahead of us.

Keep it up, & I will begin to think that YOU were 'previously made/repurposed! lol  Banana is a favorite in our house, though I have never tried lime anything, much less as a filling.  I have that cameo mold, but have never used it yet, just might hunt it up now!  Great cake!  And the rose is perfect!

Maybe it is the spontaneity of it, but the combination of the splatter lines and the red-orange rose is my favorite part.

Thanks Sandra & Betty..had to do something quick..and this is what I came up with. The splatter of icing was an afterthought. I had hardly any icing left to make blue, and I had a tube of Wilton ready made icing for writing sitting in my cake arsenal, which I never use. Didn't want to have to make another small batch of icing, so I used that to paint on the sides of the cake. I thought, I'll just squirt some icing randomly over the top of the cake to finish it off. What the heck. Liked it, gave the cake kind of a fun look. Funny how things can turn out when your in a bit of a time crunch...
