These are new decorations for my niece's baby shower cake. My hand painted puppy had to go to the pound :( My sister-in-law & my other niece (the sister of the one the shower is for) didn't like it. They said it wasn't "girly" enough. Sooo...this is plan B.

LOL Sandra. Thank you so much for your sweet compliments & I appreciate your having my back. It's all good though. The thing is my niece has been married 13 years (?) and this is her 1st baby. This was/is supposed to be "my" gift to her. When they started getting a little too picky I did let my sis-in-law know this in a very tactful way. I did send her pics of these & she loves them. Like I said, everyone else I do cakes for pretty much give me free reign to do what I want b/c they always get more from me than what they bargain for. The masquerade mask cake is a perfect example. One of my nieces on my husband's side asked me to make that for her stepdaughter's 18th bday. All she was expecting was a masquerade mask sitting on top of a 2 tiered cake. When it all started coming together in my head I sent her a few sneak peek pics showing her some things I was practicing on for the design. When she saw them it just made her even more eager to see the finished product. But different strokes for different folks as they say. This, however, is the reason I steer clear from doing wedding cakes. Don't wanna be dealin w/bridezillas...lol.

This is freakin' fantastic, Denise...absolutely love it!  OK...your sister-in-law needs to pull her head out of her butt!  Your little dog was adorable and I am willing to bet she sure as heck can't do it!!!  If you want to fight her, Denise, I've got your back!!! LOL!!

Again, thanks so much ladies. Katy, I have never had a problem with anyone I've ever made a cake for. They give me an idea of what they want & pretty much leave the rest up to me b/c they know what I'm capable of doing & trust me. I have a feeling my sis-in-law is being so picky b/c she's just a bit nervous b/c 1) she's never given a baby shower before & 2) my niece's husband's family is on the well off side & I think she wants everything to be perfect to impress them. So I guess I'll "cut her some slack " as we say around these parts. :)

Thanks Betty. These are the only handcrafted decorations I'm allowed to put on the cake. This cake will be strictly buttercream b/c my sis-in-law absolutely loathes fondant. (and b/c some people act like they're paying customers ;) ) My piping skills are really gonna be put to the test.
