oh glad you mention the wire ,i will get some thinner one ,i watched edna on you tube do some and i thought the fondant looked really thin for the wire, oh well it's all a learning process !!

i am making  the butterflies out of gumpaste ,ive just been making some for a christening cake for sunday ,they are quite brittle ,i saw a sleeping baby on here with frilly pants,i think it's a mold one though they are gorgeous but so tiny,so i've just had a go at making one for this cake and it's turned out quite well ,and if you need a templeplate for anything cakecentral have a site with lots ,i got a baby shoe one and thats worked out to ,there is a video on you tube for the gumpaste shoe it's very good ,just type in gumpaste baby shoe x

Thank you! They were fun to make. With the gum paste I feel like I'm playing with clay. It was a challenge for me self-teaching to make these. The petals were a little thick. I tried making them thinner but I had issues with the wire being too thick to make them as thin as I've seen people make them, and I was being lazy and didn't want to drive out to the craft store for smaller wire! i had some thinner wire but it was way too thin and floppy and wouldn't hold up the petals! But it was a fun learning experience :) I bet yours will turn out great! Are you making butterflies out of gum paste too? Making butterflies sounds like it would be fun :)

your lillies are so life like ,i have to do some for a friend that wants lillies and butterflies theme for her daughters cake,i've never made them before so a new challenge x
