Good luck.  I'm no expert either.  Only decorate for family and sometimes a close friend.

Ok thanks for the advice. I have a wedding cake in January and I really want to do a great job it is above what I usually do and it is making me nervous. It is pure buttercream and lots of details. So I really want to impress them. I have never taken any classes. I just happened to make a cake for my sister one time and on it went and here I am. I do cakes everyone once in awhile.

To be honest, all I have for pans are the Wilton one.  There are definitely not the best.  As far as sharp edges, there are many different methods and you just have to find one that works for you.  I've used the upside down method a couple of times and I kind of like it.  http://www.cakecentral.com/tutorial/20154/upside-down-icing-techniq...

Is it the pans?

Thanks. Do you have any advice on making edges on cakes that are decorated with buttercream more sharp? So I don't have to add the other decoration to cover that?
