Frilly Cake in a dummy 14 cm.
It's the first attempt and it's not so bad, but it takes a lot of time.

Connie, the cake is covered with sugar paste, then I roll strips of paste very thin and  attach them with glue around the board of the cake, when I finish the circle i begin an other strip a little lower, begin at the top of the cake and then go down. I don't use a cocktail stick to make the garret frills.I used modelling paste but you can use sugar paste. As Linda told me you can see Maggie Austin Cakes with this tecnique, she is the best. Thank you, i appreciate you like it:

Hi Maria, yes I spent about the same amount of time on an 8" cake! It does look lovely, but I'll seriously have to think about my poor fingers before I make another lol. I'll post a picture shortly - would love to know what you think of it. Tracy x

Hi Tracy, sorry for your index, I had not this problem because I didn't used cocktail stick but only rolled the paste very thin, the problem was the time spending of this tecnique: 3 hours for this small cake, did you spend so much time?

Thankyou

This is lovely. I have just finished a cake quite similar. 8" and white wavy frills over the whole thing. Can I ask you......did your fingers hurt at the end of this cake? My index finger is throbbing and red from using a cocktail stick to make the garret frills. If you have any tips to stop this happening I'd apreciate it. Thanks, Tracy x
