Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

A 40th birthday cake - the lady has 4 cats and I tried to replicate their markings for this one. I also tried the marbling technique video of Julie's and it worked a treat (although for wood effect I think I chose the wrong colours, but I like the effect).

Tracy, what cutters did you use? I'll bet the one receiving this cake loved it!

Yes Linda, that's exactly what I did - a thin coving of fondant draped over the crumb coated cake. I used the patchwork quilt patchwork cutter kit for the first time and was really pleased with the result. I added a little ruffle to look like a bottom sheet valance too.

Oh my gosh! That is the cutest cake ever, Tracy! I love it, love it, love it! How did you make the quilt? I know you used all different colors, but how did you get it to fall like material, did you place the squares on a piece of fondant first?
