I decided to try this one! Made first batch, yellow cake, and divided into 4 bowls for the 4 colors. In piping bags, & onto parchment paper we went... So far, so good. Ran 1/2 cup of coconut flakes through the chopper to get itty bitty pieces to sprinkle all over the pretty flowers to help fill in the background, and for flavor, of course.
Made second batch, pineapple, and again piped to cover the flowers completely. Banged against counter several times for good measure, & to remove any bubbles...
Can you guess yet what I , oh so foolishly, did wrong? I should have taken time to get the recipe out!!

Yes on all counts, I did another that turned out a little better.  Remembered where to put the background on the second one!  lol

The first one I made like this, I just loved. So pretty how they turn out. I advertised some on my website but never got any orders. Fon to make, yet challenging too.

Well, I made another one, using Mai's recipe.  Looks, acts/rolls, and tastes a lot better!  The only thing I forgot THIS TIME, was to put the flowers on BEFORE the rest of the stems, leaves, etc...!  I ALWAYS forget something......

Mai, I used a half sheet pan, and there was not enough 'mix' to fill it, and it(the cake part) turned out, what I thought, was a little thin,  Is this recipe amount meant for a smaller cake pan?  I filled it with peaches & whipped cream.   Doesn't show up very well here though.

Thank is beautiful Mai.  I saved a tutorial on how to do that but there are so many things I want to try that I never got around to that one.

First one I made.. was filled with fresh strawberries and white chocolate ganache (yummy)

I freeze it... I get my design printed on paper, place it under the parchment lining of the tray and trace it with my colored batter and that's what I like about this technique, is that I can literally draw ANY design I want. I pop it into the freezer and leave it there while I prepare the other roll batter (which is runny) and hence, when I pour it over the freezed pattern, it fills smoothly in between the drawings.

Mai, do you freeze your pattern, or bake it, before putting on the plain background?
